The mayors of Chircăieștii Noi, Copăceni, Căplani, Fundurii Vechi, Cremenciug and Mihăileni localities signed the grant agreement within the partnership with the MĂ IMPLIC Project.

The 7 local public authorities, together with the citizens, make joint efforts to improve communal service (solid waste management, street lighting, or water supply), with the support of Mă Implic – Project of civic involvement in local government.

Under the agreement, the municipalities receive a grant of up to 65 000 Swiss francs to carry out the work and/or procure the necessary equipment for the project.

In addition to financial support, beneficiaries receive consultancy and capacity-building services. The “MĂ IMPLIC” project helps the municipality and the service provider not only to improve the infrastructure but also to develop long-term approaches to keep this infrastructure in good shape and to have sustainable models for financing the provision of services. In our work, we ensure that local citizens, LPA employees, NGOs, and businesses are actively involved in modernizing community services in the community and especially that the less advantaged have equal access to these services.

The project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by SKAT Consulting.

Three villages from three rayons have joined forces to solve the waste problem

Three villages from three rayons have joined forces to solve the waste problem

The villages of Mihăileni, Baraboi, Ochiul Alb are part of 3 different rayons, respectively, Rîșcani, Dondușeni, and Drochia, but being neighboring they decided to cooperate to come up with initiatives and implement projects of common interest.

Currently, the citizens of the respective villages individually evacuate their garbage from the households in the places specially arranged by the municipalities, which implies not only inconveniences but also high costs for the households. In this context, the Mihăileni municipality came up with the idea of creating a common solid waste management service within the three communities. Thus, the Municipal Enterprise from Mihăileni, with the support of the MĂ IMPLIC project will ensure the collection of household waste from the three villages, as well as the management of landfills.

Moreover, those communities are receiving information and training on the need for separate waste collection, within another project. And this fits in very well with the strategy of the communities to develop soon the solid waste management service, by collecting separately the plastic, which will later be able to be sold to a recycling company in the capital.

In the period 2021-2023, the villages of Mihăileni, Baraboi, Ochiul Alb have associated to implement a project aimed to improve the solid waste management service, with the support of the Project “MĂ IMPLIC”, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by SKAT Consulting. Following the signed agreement, the municipality will benefit from funding (maximum 65,000 CHF), consulting, and capacity building services. The Project “MĂ IMPLIC” will help the LPA and the service provider not only to improve the infrastructure but also to develop long-term approaches to keep this infrastructure in good shape and to have sustainable models for financing the provision of services. In our work, we will ensure that local citizens, employees of LPAs, NGOs, economic agents are actively involved in modernizing public services in the community and especially that the less advantaged have equal access to these services.
